Asows! Finally uploaded 10 more pictures from the Best of CentralLuzon gig at Marilao, Bulacan. Uploading is getting harder and harder. Maybe I should have that Smart wi-fi thing at home. Somebody, please sponsor my 1k per month subscription fee!
These are the award-winning ASCOT streetdancers invading the SM Marilao mall. They were the street dancers who looked like tropies in their gold body paint during this year's Aurora Day festival. They changed their costumes to colorful banigs.
And these are the street dancing kids from Wesleyan University in Maria Aurora.

i am just wondering why streetdancing is being showcased by aurora? does the province have ati-atihan, dinagyang or sinulog as part of its history or even culture?
i hate to say this but i think this is just a cheap copycat stunt of the province. can't they think of any other gimmiks? in what part of the province's history did the people do any festive streetdancing? why not show the culture of the dumagats, ilongots, casiguranins? that is better because it is only in aurora where these groups converge. by the way, the dancers' movements are not original.
i know the province is rich in natural resources. why not hype on that and not dwell on copying streetdancing activities? and by the way, the male dancers even wear thicker make-up than the ladies. whew! so funny!
This has reference to the violent reaction you posted on street dancing in aurora.
To begin with,I dont think any place has ownership of this form of creative expression. If you had the chance to witness the presentations of aurora, you will see that what sets us apart from other provinces is the eclecticism and the liberal fusion of a myriad cultural elements found in the province, an acknowledgement of the diverse cultural influences that has shaped local culture in aurora.Interpreting it as 'a cheap copycat stunt of the province'totally misses the point.
Aurora is basically a migrant community that continues to produce a distinct culture from the congruencies and incongruencies of the diverse cultures of its peoples.
In view of this, the romantic notion of a purist culture/identity doesn't help much in understanding the local culture as it is lived by the people of aurora.
Pare, kinakalawang na yung paradigm mo, hindi ganun kasimple ang dynamics nun. I hope you will be more circumspect the next time you impose your judgment on people.
Wow! Love it when you talk like that!
bket diko nakita c lynett cruz sa mga pic....!!!
I would like to express my appreciation to those who performed the Street Dancing during Aurora Day, Baler Foundation and up to the recent Central Luzon Showcase.
This is one of the best activity that the
youth can spend their time and feel the pride of representing Aurora.
To all the performers of Aurora Street Dancers, Be Proud You Did It!

you can always harp on the eclecticism but i think it is just a lame excuse for this so-called display of culture.
you may be right in saying that the culture of aurora has been and is still being shaped by various influences. but does these 'cultural displays' show the real culture of aurora? if this is so, then i am afraid aurora's culture will be seen as, as you said it, a cheap copycat stunt of the province. di nangangahulugan na dahil walang isang lugar ang maaaring umangkin sa ganitong cultural expression, tama na magkaroon ka na rin ng ganito. kung iniisip ninyo na maging katulad kayo ng sinulog, masskara, ati-atihan or even dinagyang, mabuti pang pag-isipan ninyong mabuti kung anong layunin ang nais ninyong isakatuparan.
poor aurora. it will never be able to establish its own identity, much less its culture.
too bad for MLQ. he must be turning in his grave now at the sight of his scantily-clad kababayan gyrating to the rhythm of drums.
as i have previously written, your province is rich in culture. and people from other regions of the archipelago will appreciate it more if what you will show them are stuff that makes you unique/different and not these cheap stunts.
